Quick answer
Press the power button on the top edge and either volume button at the same time, then let go. On an iPad with a Home button, press power and Home instead.

Check the front of your iPad. A round button below the screen means you have a Home button. Many recent iPads have Touch ID built into the power button instead, so they have no Home button and use the power button + volume. Your exact model is in Settings > General > About.
