Three-finger swipe down
- Place three fingers on the screen and swipe down.
- If nothing happens, turn it on in Settings > Additional settings > Gesture shortcuts > Take a screenshot and select Slide 3 fingers down.
Scrolling screenshot
- Take a screenshot with any method.
- Tap Scroll (or Extended) on the preview in the top-right corner before it disappears.
- The page scrolls automatically. Tap Done to stop where you want.
If Scroll is greyed out, there's nothing more to scroll on that screen.
Partial screenshot (three-finger hold)
- Turn it on in Settings > Additional settings > Gesture shortcuts > Partial screenshot.
- Press and hold the screen with three fingers.
- Drag to select the area. Choose a rectangle, oval or freeform shape at the top right, then tap Save.

- Go to Settings > Additional settings > Gesture shortcuts > Back tap.
- Set Double tap or Triple tap to Take a screenshot.
- Tap the back of the phone near the camera.
Control center tile
- Swipe down from the top right to open Control center (or the notification shade on older MIUI).
- Tap Screenshot. If it's missing, tap the edit icon and add it.
Where are screenshots saved?
Open the Gallery app and go to Albums > Screenshots. In the File Manager they're in Internal storage > DCIM > Screenshots.
Record your Xiaomi screen
- Swipe down from the top (twice if needed) to open Quick Settings.
- Tap Screen recorder (or Screen record). If it's missing, tap the pencil (edit) icon and drag it in.
- Choose sound settings and start. Tap the floating stop button or the notification to finish. The video saves to your gallery.
Screenshot not working?
Three-finger swipe does nothing
Check it's turned on in Settings > Additional settings > Gesture shortcuts > Take a screenshot. Make sure all three fingers touch the screen at the same time and swipe down together.
The buttons only change the volume or lock the screen
Press Power and Volume down at exactly the same moment and hold briefly. If a button is worn, use a gesture or the Quick Settings tile instead.
"Can't take screenshot" or a black image
Banking, streaming and some work apps block screenshots on purpose, as do incognito browser tabs. This can't be turned off.
I can't find Gesture shortcuts
Menu names vary between HyperOS and MIUI versions. Open Settings and search for "screenshot".
